Backstage
This site has evolved from simple static HTML pages, into dynamic data driven ASP pages using the latest technologies and methodologies.
Website design
This site has been designed with information, and information retrieval in mind.
Locating specific television programme profiles in our tv shows section couldn't be easier.
Browse by genre, by decade, by viewing the full text listing, or alternatively a random selection can be made.
Downloads can be found whilst reviewing specific programme profiles,
or if preferred can be viewed in their entirety in the downloads section of the site.
Merchandise (DVD, Audio CD, Books etc.) can be found whilst reviewing specific programme profiles,
or again if preferred can be viewed in their entirety in the shop section of the site.
Technologies
Information is currently retrieved from central databases and files on the server, and generated into web pages with
ASP (Active Server Pages) using
VBScript (Visual Basic Script) incorporating
ADO (Active Data Objects) for database access,
CDO (Collaboration Data Objects for Windows 2000 Server) for web based e-mail,
ASC (Active Server Components - Ad Rotator, Content Rotator, Counters etc.), and
FSO (File System Objects) for file download browsing.
Desktop web browsers view our web pages generated in
HTML (HyperText Markup Language),
D-HTML (Dynamic HTML),
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to give the pages the ClassicTV look and feel, and
JavaScript for user data validation.
Our web services generate
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) data feeds, which are based on
XML (Extensible Markup Language) data structure, which in turn can be formatted with
XSL (Extensible Stylesheet Language) to transform the data into either HTML or WML, the choice is up to the developer.
Mobile devices use
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) browsers to view our
WML (Wireless Markup Language) rendered pages.
